JUNE
June 2026
I’m at my desk and the temperature outside is 30 degrees with a red warning for tomorrow when temperatures will rise to around 38 degrees! So we’re learning to cope with these extremes as each year goes by.
It’s been an eventful few weeks with a visit to Guernsey where I discovered an excellent bookshop, Writer’s Block in the Commercial Arcade, St Peter Port. I’ve added it to the long list of my favourite bookshops.
This week is also eventful as the paperback edition of the final novel in my University trilogy will be published on Thursday 25th June. So many thanks to the countless readers who have been in touch to say how much they enjoyed this series.
I’ve had several requests for speaking engagements and these will be published on the Events page of this website. The most recent was in Alresford in Hampshire on 3rd June when I met the ladies of their local Women’s Institute.
Meanwhile I’m still writing. I find time every day, usually in the quiet of early mornings. I’m busy with a new novel in a different genre, the first in a ‘cosy crime’ series. So the writing career that began for me on the day I retired from education goes on into its twentieth year.
Keep safe and happy reading,
Jack
