JUNE 2025
June 2025
The highlight this month was undoubtedly the Penguin 90th Anniversary event on 19th June in the Design Centre in London.
The organisation was superb and the venue was perfect. It was good to meet up with other authors and the first I met on arrival was Michael Cordy, the thriller writer, and we discussed his latest novel, the international best seller, Manhattan Down. It was also fun to spot the various luminaries including Stephen Fry, Clare Balding and Michael Morpurgo. I also enjoyed a brief word with Lee Child, author of the Jack Reacher novels. So it turned out to be a very special evening.
That apart, I visited Harewood House in Yorkshire this month to view the Jane Austen and JMW Turner exhibition. It was remarkable to have the opportunity to read some of Jane’s letters to his sister Cassandra, see some of her first editions and admire the Turner painting of Harewood House.
The second novel in my University series, University Challenges, will be out next month in paperback.
That apart, the third and final novel in my University trilogy, UNIVERSITY SECRETS, has passed its copy editing stage and I’ve recently had the opportunity to see the illustration for the front cover that captures the intrigue of the novel perfectly. The novel will be launched on September 4th in Waterstones Milton Keynes with follow-up signings in Waterstones York on September 6th and Waterstones Alton on September 13th.
Meanwhile, I’ve had several requests for speaking engagements and these will coincide with the launch of the new novel. The list of engagements will be published on the Events page of this website.
Best wishes,
Jack
